He Took Your Breath Away

There I was, minding my own business, getting ready to do some exercising, when Chris Rice’s voice penetrated the fog that is my brain in the mornings.

I used to stand next to you
Shout, “Hallelujah”
In the old church up on the hill
And I watched how you cried
When you sang and you smiled
And I wondered who we’re praying to

‘Cause He took your breath away
He took your breath away

One day we circled your bed
All your family and friends
Came to kiss you and whisper goodbye
You said I’m going away
And it’s not a sad day
I’m finally meeting the Love of my life

And then He took your breath away
He took your breath away

A day may come when I will attempt to wax eloquently on the life that was Loyd Sawyers.

But it is not this day.
